Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts that resided in Atlanta. The Robertses' father was interested in theatre from an early stage. When he was in school of Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus as well as in other parts of Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953. While working in Biloxi Mississippi, was cast in the military's production, which featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was also in Air Force. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple got married in 1957. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they were discharged from the air force and Walter began studying at Tulane. Walter was hired as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the television show Bum Bum His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday matinee local TV show that was aimed at children, named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. This was a project that they funded themselves. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for six years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
